....... Too Much STRESS ?
When obstacles arise that keep you from living a full and happy life - help is available.
My name is Ezra Kreamer, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice. We can work together to resolve any personal or interpersonal conflicts you have, and identify ways to become more resourceful and empowered. If you or someone you love is seeking to end dependency on an unhealthy habit - like smoking, overeating or excessive drinking - I can help. I enjoy helping people overcome fears or phobias, and to regain confidence and a sense of security after experiencing significant trauma. If you think your family may require family therapy to get back on the road to a more positive co-existence, I would love to help. I offer strengths-based, time-proven psychotherapy services, and encourage you to call or stop by the office to set up a free initial consultation. You can talk to me about the issues affecting you or your loved one(s), and I'll help you identify what might work best for you.
I offer consultation services to local businesses who need help planning employee health, enhancement, and assistance programs. I can help your employees become happier and healthier, and in turn, more productive, by planning a series of in-office workshops - topics ranging from leading a healthier lifestyle and stress management, to smoking cessation and time-management skills. Together, we can find ways to reach out to your struggling employee(s), who are too valuable to lose, instead of losing them to problems that can be successfully and sustainably resolved.
I believe, and have experienced for myself, that the conscious mind exerts a powerful influence on the health of our bodies, as well as on those around us and in our larger world. Its' potential is practically unlimited when we are functioning at our best, not allowing our unconscious mind to take on a life of it's own. My counseling practices reflect this belief. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) are the cornerstones of my work with children and adults alike. I am passionate about utilizing Flotation R.E.S.T. to help people regain optimum balance and resilience, both mentally and physically. In my work with couples, I often utilize the Enneagram personality types and Schema Therapy, to address issues around conflict, anxiety, and control. It can be liberating to change deep-seated and dysfunctional patterns or “schemas” that undermine a person’s emotional health and functional living. It is important to change unhealthy and ineffective coping strategies that only tend to perpetuate these schemas. The means by which these important changes are made begins with a comprehensive and focused approach that explores your cognitive, emotional, spiritual, and behavioral experiences and to develop strategies that will guide you back to where you want to be. With families, I use a blend of many perspectives, including behavioral and systems approaches. My number one philosophical tenant is that I never ask anyone to do something that I wouldn't be willing to do myself. The same skills and strategies that I practice in my office are the same ones that I use with myself, my children, and my partner at home.
EDUCATION:
* Masters of Social Work, University of Maine, 2005
* License #: LC11082
* License State: Maine
EXPERIENCE:
* I have worked with young children, adolescents and adults since 1999 in community-based and private mental health agencies.
* I have experience as a crisis clinician, providing support and assessment to children and adults in crisis in school, jail, prison, and hospital settings, as well as making in-home visits.
* One of my most memorable experiences was being able to work with an Eagala (Equine-assisted Growth and Learning Association) trainer while I worked as a clinician at Ironwood of Maine, a farm-based residential treatment program for adolescent girls and boys with co-occurring issues. I remain forever changed as a result of watching the horses interact with and masterfully size-up their adolescent riders within minutes. The horses would then spend the next hour pushing EXACTLY the right buttons needed to bring about learning for each rider.
SPECIALTIES:
* I have extensive and ongoing training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, with both children and adults.
* I have over seven years of experience with using Restricted Environmental Stimulation Technique (R.E.S.T.), particularly Flotation R.E.S.T. to address chronic physical and mental stress, addiction issues, and pain-management.
WHEN I'M NOT AT WORK ....
I like to spend time with my wife, three sons and our two cats. I enjoy canoeing, sailing, hiking, and swimming. I love to learn and explore, trying to live as continuously as possible every day. I find that a great day is one where I have had the opportunity to help someone else discover something new and inspiring.
